About Mitupo

Welcome to Mitupo, a celebration of Zimbabwe's rich cultural heritage through the art of totems. Mitupo (totems) are more than just symbols - they are the heartbeat of our identity, connecting us to our ancestors, our families, and our shared history as Zimbabweans.

In Zimbabwe, every clan has its totem - whether it's Shumba (Lion), Moyo (Heart), Tembo (Zebra), or Nzou (Elephant). These totems carry with them stories, values, and traditions that have been passed down through generations. Yet in our modern world, many of us are losing touch with these beautiful traditions.

This project was born from a simple but powerful belief: our totems deserve to be celebrated, understood, and preserved. We want to create a space where people can discover the richness of Zimbabwean culture, learn about their mitupo, and reconnect with the wisdom of their ancestors.

Our Mission

Through poetry, stories, and shared knowledge, we aim to:

  • Showcase the beauty and depth of Zimbabwean totems
  • Encourage people to embrace and take pride in their mitupo
  • Preserve our cultural heritage for future generations
  • Create a community where we can learn from each other about our totems
  • Share the wisdom and values embedded in our totem traditions

Whether you're Zimbabwean looking to reconnect with your roots, or someone curious about our culture, we invite you to explore, learn, and celebrate the richness of mitupo with us.

Maita! (Thank you!)
